Outdoors Card

To hunt and fish in Ontario, you need a valid Outdoors Card and a valid hunting or fishing licence.


Ontario Outdoors Card

An Outdoors Card is a plastic, wallet-sized identification card issued by the ministry that allows you to hunt or fish.

A valid Outdoors Card is required for:
Ontario residents | Canadian residents | Non-residents Apprentice Hunters (only Ontario residents 12 to 14 years old are eligible to participate in the Hunter Apprenticeship Safety Program)

You are required to carry this card with you at all times while hunting or fishing.
If you buy a 1-year or 3-year fishing and/or small game license at the same time you renew or buy an Outdoors Card, these licenses will be printed on the back of the card. All your valid fishing and hunting licenses will also be listed on your license summary.

at a participating Service Ontario location
Requirements

To buy, renew or replace an Outdoors Card, you need to provide your:
legal first, middle and last name
date of birth
mailing and/or residential address
height and eye colour
parental consent (for resident hunters 12 to 15 years old)

Cost:
The cost to buy, renew or replace your lost, stolen or damaged Outdoors Card is $8.57 + (HST).
You can pay by VISA, VISA debit, MasterCard or Debit Mastercard. We do not accept American Express.

Delivery and shipping
Your card will be sent to you by mail.
It may take up to 20 days to receive your Outdoors Card.
If you have been waiting longer than 20 days, log into your Fish and Wildlife online account to check that your address is correct or call us at 1 (800) 387-7011.

While you are waiting for your Outdoors Card to arrive, you can carry your license summary, given to you when you purchased your card, as temporary proof of purchase. This means you can go fishing or hunting immediately before your card arrives. You can carry your license summary in paper or digital format, such as on a smartphone.

Updating your name or address on your Outdoors card
To update the name on your Outdoors Card, contact us within 10 days of the change.
You can update your address through the Fish and Wildlife Licensing Service by either:
logging into your online account
calling 1-800-387-7011
visiting a license issuer
visiting a participating Service Ontario location
